Welcome to week three of the One Room Challenge! I'm surprised my fingers still function well enough to type this post as I've been painting nonstop for what seems like an eternity. Luckily my squad (Mom, Dad + Aunt) have been a tremendous help. To all of you who are taking on the ORC or any renovation project by yourself, my hat goes off to you!
Besides the painting marathon, we're 90% finished adding the trim supplied to us by Metrie. The newly added panel molding, door casing, and baseboard have made a drastic difference to the living room and foyer. When selected trim for your house keep in mind the general feel, era, and style. Our house has eight-foot ceilings and isn't overly fancy, so I didn't want to add a baseboard that was too large or ornate.
Additionally, my mom is also working on an XL custom collage for the foyer. I hinted at this piece in my week two post, here's a sneak peek!
ART BY GRACE B. KEOGH
This week will entail more grunt work...painting, caulking, finishing the trim, and the start of the biggest project...the staircase. While the plans for the stairs aren't drastic, they still need to be sanded, stained, painted and jazzed up. Since I saw the listing for the house, the finials have bothered me. The staircase is the first thing you see when you enter the home, and I want it to make a statement!
I hope by next week I'll have a lot of fun things to show you. If you missed anything, catch up on my week onE and week two progress. And as always, if you want to see more BTS action, follow me on Instagram stories!
Can't get enough of the ORC? You're in luck! There are twenty featured designers (linked below), and hundreds of guest bloggers participating.
Be sure to give them all some love this week!
